We know this has been a challenging year for our students with the move to online and blended learning, so we’re offering Mentally Healthy Universities workshops to all students, in conjunction with mental health charity Mind.
Join these free wellbeing sessions to help you to understand mental health better and make the most of the support that is available around the university.
People were very welcoming and understanding. I felt less alone and more connected. It was nice to talk openly about mental health.
In these sessions, students have spoken about their feelings of loneliness, anxiety about the future, and being upset at missing out on a ‘normal’ university experience. All of these feelings are completely understandable and valid; and our workshops aim to bring students together to chat in a safe and open environment about all things mental health and wellbeing.
Telma (2nd year student) attended the Mentally Healthy Universities workshops and wants to highlight the importance of looking after your wellbeing and mental health to other students.
Mental health and wellbeing to me means making your mind and your thoughts a part of your self-care as much as your skincare, haircare or your diet. It simply means thinking: What can I do today to take care of my mind? For some this may be through exercise, meditation or just speaking to someone.

These sessions have been designed by , alongside students, and are delivered online by experienced mental health trainers. The workshops are now open to postgraduate students, as well as undergraduates.
Workshop 1: Wellbeing Essentials for Students
Tuesday 8 June at 2pm, Thursday 24 June at 1pm (2 hour workshop)
We explore what mental health is, managing stress, how to work with the 'five ways to wellbeing' to support ourselves, where to find support from within and outside university, and how to have conversations about mental health.
This is an online, interactive group workshop that takes 2 hours. You will have access to further online wellbeing resources after the session that you can look at whenever you like, for as long you like.
Workshop 2: Tools and Techniques for Mental Health
Fridays 4, 11, 18, and 25 June at 10am - 12pm (running for 4 consecutive weeks)
There are lots of different feelings, behaviours and situations that can impact our mental health, particularly at university. Each session aims to teach you practical tools and techniques to manage your mental health and wellbeing during your busy time at Çï¿ûÊÓƵ and beyond!
The course involves four 2-hour workshops which are held weekly online over four consecutive weeks.
Workshop 3: Looking After Your Mental Health at Work
Monday 7 June at 12pm, Wednesday 16 June at 3pm (2 hour workshop)
University has a big role to play in preparing you to thrive in the future. This course is for any undergraduate student who would like to learn more about the importance of workplace wellbeing and how to look after your mental health when you move into work.
This may be particularly useful for students who are thinking about your career choices, moving into a placement year, or who currently have a job.
