Allowed but not supported tools

Our allowed but not supported tools are approved for use within the university but do not have internal levels of help or support in place. Essential or allowed tools should be used in preference to unsupported tools.

Our approved Teaching and Learning tools are divided into essential, supported and not supported tools. The tiers indicate the level of training and support available for each technology, and essential or allowed tools should be used in preference to unsupported tools.

If you would like to use a technology which is not listed please contact the IT Service Desk for advice before proceeding.

Adobe Connect

Adobe Connect is a web-conferencing tool, which is being phased out of the university. Colleagues with Adobe Connect licences are encouraged to move to Microsoft Teams.

Camtasia

Camtasia is powerful, but simple to use software which helps you create digital content, such as video tutorials, screencasts and recording simple audio tracks. Screencasts are digital video recordings of your computer screen and usually includes audio narration.

MATLAB

The University has a Campus-Wide Licence for . Faculty, researchers, and students may use these products for teaching, research, and learning. The licence allows individuals to install the products on personally owned computers.

Other online meeting tools

Microsoft Teams is our approved tool for teaching, research and online meetings. Here we share how you can use other online meeting tools to attend meetings hosted by other organisations.

Unitu

Unitu is an online platform that provides an easy method for universities and student unions to collect, represent and act upon student feedback all in real time.

Vimeo

Vimeo is an online video streaming site that allows users to upload and promote their videos with a high degree of customization.
