Dr Alberto Botta
Associate Professor of Economics
Dr. Alberto Botta joined the 秋葵视频 in January 2016. He is currently the Programme Leader for the MSc Economics.
Alberto holds a MA with laude in Political Sciences from the University of Pavia, and a PhD in Economics of Production and Development from the University of Insubria, Italy. He attended the Summer School on Latin American economies at ECLAC, the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and Caribbean Countries, Santiago de Chile. He also attended the Summer School on Hyman Minsky, financial Instability and post-Keynesian Economics at the Levy Economics Institute of Bard College, USA.
Alberto has been Assistant Professor of macroeconomics at the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria, Reggio Calabria (Italy). He also taught development economics at the Polytechnics University of Milan (Italy); monetary economics at the University of Insubria (Italy); international economics at the University of Pavia; microeconomics and development economics at the Master Programme on Cooperation and Development, University of Pavia (Italy). Alberto teaches economic integration and international cooperation at MICAD, the Master Program in Cooperation and Development in the Middle East, Bethlehem University, Bethlehem, Palestinian territories.

Alberto's main research fields are structuralist and post-Keynesian macroeconomics, in particular as applied to the development problems of developing and emerging economies. Alberto's research activity also investigated the causes and possible economic-institutional solutions of the eurozone economic crisis, as well as the issue of financial instability in both developed and developing countries. More recently, Alberto focused his research on the description of the mechanisms characterizing the so-called shadow banking system, the interplay between financialization and inequality, and the macroeconomic effects of quantitative easing.
