Dr Myrtle Emmanuel joined the Çï¿ûÊÓƵ in April 2015 as a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management & Organisational Behaviour. In her current role at UoG, Myrtle holds the responsibility of Equality Diversity & Inclusion Race Advisor to the Vice Chancellor after relinquishing her role as Programme Leader for the CIPD accredited MA HRM programme which she held within the HROB Department for three years.

Prior to joining the university, Myrtle was a Principal Lecturer (PL) Faculty of Business and Law at London Metropolitan University.  As PL, Myrtle assisted the Learning and Teaching Director in the development of the Faculty's policy on learning, teaching and assessment. She also had a key role in the design and delivery of a range of modules on the HRM postgraduate and undergraduate degree programmes.  Myrtle was also the Programme Leader for the CIPD accredited BA Human Resource Management Programme at Londonmet. She has also undertaken Associate Tutorship roles for Birkbeck College and Northumbria University.

As a training and development practitioner, Myrtle was leadership and personal development facilitator/trainer for various private and public sector organisations. Her portfolio of interim and freelance roles comprised of research, evaluation and learning and development. Examples include Equality and Diversity training for NHS newcomers as well as delivery of Organisational Development, CIPD and IPM courses for various organisations (London Boroughs of Newham, Lewisham & Waltham Forest, Norwich City Council and Broadgate Estates).

Myrtle achieved her PhD in Management at the Henley Business School, University of Reading in 2014.  Her research interest encompasses:

Key funded projects

Co-Investigator (2019)

Funder:  Local Government funding (10K).  Project to develop a new theatrical  production on the working lives and legacy of Windrush Nurses, to further develop  the pioneering work of the Caribbean nurses and allied health professional in the NHS.

Principal Investigator (2017)

Funder: UoG’s Business Faculty Development Fund (£5K) - Development of an innovative customised online diagnostic tool for final year HR and Business Management students with the Human Resource and Organisational Behaviour Department. This diagnostic tool consists of an online network development questionnaire and personal analysis providing students with graphical and textual information about the characteristics of their developmental network together with the career and psychosocial benefits they derive from these networks. The tool is utilised by the Business School on the Levels 5 & 6 Career and Professional Practice module.
