Jill Harrison is an Associate Professor and Programme Leader for Early Years in the School of Education at the Çï¿ûÊÓƵ.

Jill has worked in the Early Year's sector for many years within the private, voluntary, health and social service sectors. She has been manager of a work place nursery and a large Early Year's centre for the local authority. She is Link Tutor for the Early Years programmes that our partners in SEGi College Malaysia deliver.

Since joining the Çï¿ûÊÓƵ, she leads on the BA Hons Early Years and Early Years Initial Teacher Training (ITT) course, as well as Link Tutor for the Early Years programme that our partners in SEGi College Malaysia deliver.

  • 1995-2001, Lecturer, Bromley College of Further and Higher education (Opened and managed nursery)
  • 1993-95, Nursery Manager, Amersham Early Years Centre, London Borough of Lewisham
  • 1993, Nursery Coordinator and Manager, Fleet Street Nursery, London
  • 1980-93, Held a variety of posts; in social service nurseries; a hospital nursery; as a private nanny; and maternity nurse.

Recognition

  • External examiner for the University of Northampton

Research / Scholarly interests

Jill is currently researching on the Early Years professional role and how well prepared nursery practitioners are for the level of work they are asked to do. This study will review qualifications and how staff are supported both here and in Malaysia.
