Senior Lecturer in Law and Criminology

Abu Zaman is a Senior Lecturer in Law and Criminology at the Çï¿ûÊÓƵ where he teaches Law and Criminology modules. He is a trustee and a member of the Restorative Justice Council (RJC), a member of the Advisory Board for the Restorative Justice All-Party Parliamentary Group (RJ APPG) and chairs the Young People and Education Working Group. At the Çï¿ûÊÓƵ, his research predominantly focuses on Restorative Justice with Young People and in Education. In his role, Abu has developed Restorative Justice modules grounded in restorative pedagogy, offering students unique training opportunities. These modules, which include training approved by the Restorative Justice Council (RJC), are designed to cultivate a cohort of Restorative Justice facilitators equipped with the necessary standards and practices.

Research / Scholarly interests

As part of his PhD, Abu Zaman explored Restorative Justice and its practices in the Further Education sector. This research explored staff and students' understanding and experiences of RJ practices and processes; and staff experiences of constraints, limitations, and opportunities for successful RJ policy implementation. At the Çï¿ûÊÓƵ, his research predominantly focuses on Restorative Justice with Young People and in Education.
