Research / Scholarly interests
Naomi's research is interdisciplinary, threading together architecture, the social sciences and arts-based practice. Her research interests include: the role of speech in architectural design processes; speech and the imagined architectural project; speech-drawing relationships; intersections between voice and architecture; architectures of speaking and listening and the social, cultural and spatial performance of institutional buildings.
Her PhD research is a study of architect's design conversations, with a focus on the creative, collaborative role of speech in early, concept-stage design projects. Other recent research projects include a comparative study of 28 European National Parliament Buildings, a project led by Professor Sophia Psarra (UCL), undertaken with Gustavo Maldonado Gil (UCL).
