Professor Özgür H. Çɪnar is a lawyer. He completed his PhD at the School of Law, University of Essex in 2012 on the subject of conscientious objection to military service and the case of Turkey.  Previously, he worked in various institutions such as University of Essex and BPP University.  He carried out postdoctoral research at the University of Oxford (St Antony's College, Law Department and Kellogg College) between November 2012 and September 2016. Moreover, he works as a legal expert for the Council of Europe since 2008.
