Key details
Dr Peter Jones
Principal Lecturer in Sociology
Biography
Peter holds a BA (Hons) in Sociology and Geography (2.i) and a PhD in Human Geography, both from the University of Sheffield. His PhD research was in migration and race – an area to which he has recently returned, having also developed scholarly interests in global (in)securities, the 'risk society' and 'futures studies'; and in the teaching of critical thinking and academic writing in the 'intercultural university' of the 21st century.
In February 2017 Peter co-convened 'The Ageing Workforce' Symposium (with Shaun Lundy, Marianne Markowski and David Thomas), and in May 2016 he co-convened the 'Sustainability and Futures' Research Networking Conference (with Spyros Straviravdis), both held at the University of Greenwich.
As a University Teaching Fellow, Peter is actively involved in learning enhancement activities – for example in relation to the embedding of academic and information skills in the undergraduate curriculum.
