Sally Mann

Dr Sally Mann PhD

Senior Lecturer in Sociology

Sally is an activist academic, with an interest in inequality. She has taught Sociology at the Çï¿ûÊÓƵ since 2007. She currently leads two Core Modules: level 4 Inequality and Social Formation, and level 6 Gender, Race and Crime (which is the only course with an experiment in deviance).

She supervises final year Sociology Project and Work Placement students within the university, and oversees placements in charities within Newham.

Sally is employed part-time. The remainder of her week is given to community organising and activism. She contributes to Master’s Courses in Practical Theology and Humanitarian Development outside of the Çï¿ûÊÓƵ. She is a trustee of several charities.

Previous work experience: Sally worked in curriculum developer as a Pathway Leader at Newham College of Further Education, where she wrote and led pilot study diplomas for marginalised learners, including a new course for young parents who had been previously excluded from education.

She is a certified anger management trainer and worked for the Prince's Trust and has a background in youth work.
