Introduction to Securities and Investment

A School of Law short course, accredited by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI).

This course provides an overview of key areas of investment to new entrants to the financial services industry.  It will enhance candidates' knowledge and understanding on the following topics:

  • Economic Environment      
  • Financial Assets and Markets
  • Equities/Stocks      
  • Bonds  
  • Derivatives     
  • Investment Funds
  • Financial Services Regulation  
  • Other Financial Products

As a stand-alone qualification as well as an introductory unit of the Investment Operations Certificate (IOC) programme of the CISI, it is suitable for new entrants to the professional sector and staff who are beginning their career in financial services.

Assessment

A one-hour examination of 50 multiple choice questions.

Course Instructor

Dr Jing Bian is a Lecturer in Law, Greenwich University. She has published widely on the comparative financial regulation aspect. She has a track record with research and practical projects for international institutions as well as international transactions. And she frequently speaks at academic conferences and industry summits. Dr Jing Bian has solid practical and commercial experiences. She is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, and the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment. Previously, she held a number of roles in financial institutions. Dr Jing Bian is very experienced on delivering training.
