There are several ways to fund your research studies:
1. Paying your self – If you are paying tuition fees yourself, you must pay at least 50% or half of your tuition fees at registration. The remaining 50% of your fees will be due after 4 months. For example, if you register in September 2023 and pay half of your fees, the other half will be due by the end of January 2024
2. Loans - Home research students can apply for a Doctoral Loan to help with course fees and living costs. Please visit for more information.
3. Çï¿ûÊÓƵ Research Studentships and Scholarships - For information on currently available university’s studentships and scholarships.
4. External Studentships Funding – Please visit for more information.
5. UK Research Councils – There are a number of research councils in the UK each supporting different fields of study. Offer / Acceptance Letter
If you have been offered a research programme by the university, your offer / acceptance letter will detail the specific tuition fees you are required to pay for your initial registration in the first year covering you to the following August. For example, if you start your programme in April 2023, the tuition fees will be from April 2023 to August 2023 etc.
How and when to pay tuition fees
You can pay your tuition fees by card or by Bacs via our Global Pay system, or via your student’s portal.
Payment Options
You can pay your deposit and tuition fees via bank transfer or card payment via our partner; Convera GlobalPay. Funds can be paid in a range of currencies at guaranteed rates and offers a fast direct transfer from your payee account to our account. You will need your Applicant Student ID (example 001234567) to make your payment, this can be found on your offer letter. Card payments can also be made within the site. Visit Convera GlobalPay to make your payment. It can take up to 5 working days for the payment to reflect against your student account. You can track the payment on the Convera website by clicking on 'track your payment'. You will be sent a receipt from the portal to the email address provided on the quote. During registration Once you have started registration, you can complete additional payments by: Convera GlobalPay for students or via Debit/Credit Card through your Çï¿ûÊÓƵ Student Portal.
· Log in to the Portal.
· Select 'Student records'.
· Select 'Check account | Make online payments'.
· Select 'Programme fee transactions'.
· Follow instructions on screen.

Reduced Tuition Fees Scheme
For eligible students, the university operates a reduced tuition fee scheme which has the objective of encouraging postgraduate research students to complete their studies within 4 years for those studying full time, and 7 years for those studying on a part time basis.
