AI - A Stereotypical Story
Project outline
AI - A Stereotypical Story delves into the biases in generative AI models.
Prompts used were un-gendered and general to not skew the results, yet AI models such as ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot produces biased results.
This project also looks at the impact bias might have in areas of the medical industry such as with Xray image detection to aid triage.
Any bias in this area can be extremely dangerous as human lives may be at risk, should there be complications with the detection models.
Overall this project aims to bring forward the dangers of biased AI and propose society leads the change, after all AI is only as smart as the data it is trained on.
Weronika’s project was selected to be presented at the BSC Women Ada Lovelace Colloquium hosted at the University of Liverpool on the 4th of April 2024.
Women In STEM (WIS) Society
Weronika is also the President of The Women In STEM (WIS) Society, a collective of students identifying as women and non-binary currently in degrees relating to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics known as STEM.
The group shares ambitions, interests, and careers; coming together to combat the challenges faced by women in STEM fields. Our members share and explore concepts relating to a wide range of subjects and collaborate on ideas.
They host weekly study groups to build a support network for students in all years of education, among other events aimed to empower our members and others within the University.
